The Road to It's Show Easy

I met Debi Knezovich over a decade ago. At the time, she was promoting a single show, her spring home and garden show, and her website was just an image that she would replace each year. She contacted me looking for someone to help her enhance her website. She explained to me that the target audience of her website was not only the people who would visit the show, but, perhaps more importantly, the people and businesses that would be exhibiting at the show; the vendors. It seemed to me that what would really help Debi was not just a website enhancement, but a web application that would make it easier for vendors to apply to be a part of her show, and also for Debi to manage those vendors.

Debi didn't have much money to spend and I had just started my custom software development and consulting business and didn't have many clients. She agreed to pay me what she could and I agreed to build her the system we had discussed. I was excited to have a client and even more excited by the notion that I could help Debi grow her business. A couple months later we launched the software. It wasn't It's Show Easy, but it was the beginning.

Using the software, Debi was able to grow the spring home and garden show without recruiting additional help, more than doubling the number of vendors. Next, she decided to start a holiday home show and more recently, Debi started a third show, a sportsman's expo. Since I have known Debi, her business revenue has increased over 600%. She was able to accomplish all of this as a solo promoter thanks to what would soon become It's Show Easy.

Considering the success Debi had experienced using the software I had created for her, it occurred to me that the software could help other show and event promoters. I proposed the idea, to Debi, to convert her software into a product and offer it to other promoters. She was immediately supportive seeing that, if I could get other promoters using the software, I would be able to make enhancements to the software and the cost to do so would be shared by everyone using the software, as opposed to Debi footing the bill entirely. It's Show Easy was born.

Today's It's Show Easy offers significant modernization and many new features beyond Debi's original system. As I meet new promoters and study shows and events that could benefit from It's Show Easy, I am continually evolving the product. I love my history with Debi. It is so gratifying to use my talents as a technologist to help another small business thrive and grow. I am now on a mission to repeat the pattern as many times as I can. As I do so, It's Show Easy will evolve, and as it does, every promoter using it will benefit, ultimately creating a community in which promoters are helping promoters.
